I've been thinking a lot about self limiting beliefs and how manifesting can help change things on a bigger scale. In fact, the ritual kit was initially developed to help my meditation students learn how to set intentions and manifest change in their lives. But soon after, I also realized that growing up in our society, we are sort of set up to have this limiting belief system. We forget about the intuitive, powerful little creatures that we are born to be.
We are taught to look outside of ourselves for answers, validation, healing, etc. And one of the biggest things we learn, is that answers and solutions are going to come from someone or something other than oursleves. The prince will come and rescue us from our evil step mother and terrible life, the teacher will give us important information that we need to succeed, the priest will resolve our sins, our parent will demonstrate how to behave the correct way, etc. and when things don’t work out we say, “well, it’s not my fault, look at my circumstances!” And this cycle goes on and on, and we truly believe that other people have the power, the answers, that they are more capable, have more gifts, are more connected/intuitive, are more destined for success or love, but really that’s not true.
Often times, we put these people who are seemingly leaders, or who have what we believe we want, on a pedestal...maybe this is because they have achieved some socially accepted form of success like money or a fit body, or because they have a lot of followers on social media, but we believe, they must have something extra.
But let me tell you...they DO NOT have anything extra.
The only thing they have done differently is lifted their self limiting belief..they’ve done the work...and I don’t mean that they have done the physical work of sitting down and writing a book, or starting a business, or falling in love...but they’ve done the work to lift the limitation and believe in their personal power. They realized that they are not limited, but capable, able and deserving.
Chances are, the things you covet most in others, are the things you feel most limited by. This brings me to the importance of manifesting and the role it can play in changing our lives. We must remember that we are all capable of doing this, and we can begin to lift these self limiting beliefs just by intending to do so.
So, next time you are feeling like you are far from your goals, or you see someone who you perceive as thriving, ask yourself, “what do they possess, that I would like to have?” And instead of saying, well I can’t possibly have that, or be that way, etc., look within yourself and say “I am open to receiving this” and most of the time you’ll find that just by stating the intention, you are at the starting point of a new journey that will get you there.
In my own experience, I’ve found that by setting the intention and creating the space energetically, doors open up, opportunities open up, and I’ve been redirected to a path leading me to new lessons, people, places, things, and with that comes growth, expansion, learning and letting go.
But remember, these opportunities can come in all ways, and it’s not always immediate. Perhaps it’s a new job that takes you somewhere, or meeting someone who says something profound or connects you with someone new. But when we set intentions and open ourselves energetically, it ignites something.
So next time you are looking at that person who seems like they have what you want, instead of saying “I’ll never be/have XYZ” remember that those thoughts are manifesting that- they are feeding the self limiting beliefs. Instead, turn it around and affirm “I would like XYZ to come into my life!” because at the end of the day, YOU are the one with the power-so step into it!
